The La Fong Archives

Two Years Before The Mast

You might have noticed that the Fetish Sites I have been proposing – ever since June 2008 – have not yet appeared.

I had hoped to bring the first of those sites – Fem Dom Fascination – online within a year of announcing my return from retirement.

Alas, those plans got hit hard early on when an important collaborator left the project, and although nobody is irreplaceable it has been very difficult to find someone with the correct skillsets. Like others before me, I’ve had to learn the hard way.

The La Fong Archives, and its associated sites, were always intended to be produced by a small core of people – but that core group got even smaller as the recession hit home.

For a while, I thought the recession was going to be a blessing in disguise for small operators like myself – but in increasingly difficult times the business response was to flood the market with “free content”. It became hard to find even a minor investment partner when the response was always the same – “Why should I invest in a business where the audience gets the content for free?”

And although the “free content” is seldom “good content”, it remains true that the average surfer can find enough to keep them entertained with a quick search.

It occurred to me that Affiliate Marketing might be one way to create enough cashflow to service my proposed sites but that possibility shrinks as more and more small-scale entrepreneurs become Affiliates of the Big Companies rather than go to the expense of developing and marketing their own content.

The real benefit of not having the sites launched yet is that I’ve had plenty of time to really consider and refine the business model that I’m going to adopt.  Fem Dom Fascination at its sister sites may be a long time in the making – but I’ll get there eventually. Maybe this year?
