Style is important in a domme. Attitude is vital. Not the snarling, faux-dominatrix domme we’re familiar with. No – an attitude of intelligence, superiority and quiet strength is required. Add to that a generous helping of beauty that is out of a mere man’s reach — and I think we can agree that Eva Mendes in Frank Miller’s “The Spirit” is a powerful female able to command anything she choses.
And so here we are – the Inaugural Mistress of the Month event. Carl La Fong is pleased to present the first Domme to grace the Archives. Ms. Eva Mendes as “Sand Saref”:
I’ve talked about the La Fong style in several posts. I wonder if you can see from the above still what I mean. Look at the neo-noir lighting. The clean space that somehow feels isolated and separated from the outside world. Notice the heavy furniture. Notice the hesitant male – about to learn his fate. Note particularly that his posture is slumped – but he is taller and bigger than the woman who confronts him with such ease and confidence. Notice that she ignores the man behind her. Is he her lover? He doesn’t seem submissive enough to be her slave or pet. The scene is instantly intriguing, isn’t it? Note also, if you will, that she is dressed in a way that pleases her. She’s expensive. She has chosen her clothes herself. She is aware of her femininity, yet dresses to express herself powerfully. She is absolutely not dressing to arouse a man. She is not revealing herself to anyone, yet she is revealed subtly. She commands respect. And obedience.
You will see from the above still, that the La Fong neo-noir lighting scheme is present. Still the same isolation and separation from the “real” world. But now we have an almost claustrophobic intimacy. The Domme is completely secure and confident in her nudity. The man hesitates by the door. His feet are not firmly planted. He is unsure before this female power. Humbled by her Gynocracy. Her nakedness – her perfect nakedness – promises paradise. But from her posture it is clear that such delights must be earned. And given only to those who are worthy of it.
I know that some of you may think back to another film, made in the neo-noir comic book style – “Sin City” – and to Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of dominatrix “Gail”. Oh, foolish thoughts. One glance will tell you that brilliant though Ms Dawson is, her dominatrix does not pass the strict La Fong criteria. No, ladies and gentlemen. I give you Mistress of the Month – Ms. Eva Mendes as “Sand Saref”. And if you haven’t seen “The Spirit”, it’s worth it for Ms. Mendes alone.

Central to the Carl La Fong style is how to interpret the nature of ‘female domination of the male’. In my searches around the ‘adult’ web, I rarely find anything that truly reflects the fem dom fetish as I understand it.
My views on ‘faux’ fetish have already been expressed in earlier posts. True fem dom fetish requires models able to deliver the correct attitude with sincerity – not simply by snarling and cracking a bullwhip while dressed in cheap latex.
Fem Dom isn’t always about brutality – just as male domination of submissive females isn’t about beating someone until they bleed, or choking them dangerously.
Once again, I think we’re in an area where the people who are providing much of the content (with some obvious exceptions) don’t understand what they’re dealing with. I’d be prepared to bet that the majority of men interested in being dominated by a superior female aren’t that interested in the more extreme and violent aspects of the game. Yet that’s mostly what’s being delivered to us by content providers.
Long ago and far away, there was a self-published magazine out of someplace like West Virginia called ‘Gynocracy’. It held true to the belief that men could be held in thrall by full-dressed dominant women whose every command was obeyed – under the threat of mild-to-severe corporal punishment, strict discipline, bondage, feminization, “queening” and the with-holding of orgasm.
The focus was on a relationship between the domme and the sub, that didn’t require the virtual maiming or bodily injury that seems so prevalent in today’s fetish culture.
This idea of a “relationship” (which, to be fair, Kink.com tries hard to foster) meant that the concept of Respect between domme and sub was truly important. Again, precious little of current content attempts to portray that vital component.
Once that component is in place – either in real-life or fantasy content, and provided it is portrayed authentically and sincerely, it opens up a whole new experience for both domme and sub.
It is entirely possible for the most exquisite sensations to be discovered in the presence of a non-nude domme – if the domme presents herself with an attitude that demands Respect.
I, for one, would want content that explored that concept and attitude – rather than the quick, shorthand of brutality and extreme posturing, which entirely lacks credibility. When I look for fem dom content, I’m quickly passing over the extreme and the nasty. Not because I’m a prude – but because it’s not Fem Dom! Female Domination is a head-game played between Sub and Domme. You don’t need a pair of pliers and vice. You just need the implication of severity. You don’t even need nudity. In fact, lack of nudity is probably more arousing to the true sub.

Yes. You probably are. But she’s aware of that and you’ll pay for it! Here’s the thing. If a Dominatrix gets dressed up in Fetish Costume and acts out a Fantasy created to fulfill your wishes and desires, you can’t really claim that you’re the Submissive, can you? The Dominatrix has acceded to your wishes. You are the Dominant! And because you – the Male – have used the power of your money and/or your demand, or even the power of your love and acceptance, to achieve your satisfaction… well, I have to tell you. You have made your “Dominatrix” a sex object! You have “objectized” her just as surely as Allen Jones has sculpted a piece of Fetish sculpture for your enjoyment.

After almost a decade in retirement, legendary producer Carl La Fong has returned to adult entertainment with his own special brand of Fetish content.
Incredible as it may seem, Carl La Fong began his career as a 12-year-old schoolboy. “I belonged to the school camera club,” he tells us. “It didn’t take me long to figure out I had a eager audience of curious 12-year-olds. I found some girlie magazines, photographed them and made prints that I sold. It didn’t occur to me at the time that I was pirating content!”
La Fong’s real career began in London, where he started out in advertising and television. He found his inspiration in ‘underground’ grindhouse cinemas that screened American and Swedish stag films, and their British equivalents. Harrison Marks, the British Russ Meyer, became La Fong’s role model. “Harrison was a huge influence on me,” says La Fong, “my first pseudonym in the business was ‘Edward Marks’ out of respect for his work”.
